The impossible...not so impossible!

They say incredible people do incredible things.

Five days ago my father and his best friend left to go out west and hike to the summit of Mount Whitney. After two failed attempts this was the year that my dad was determined to make it. Last year the smoke from the fires prevented him from making it so it just added to his determination.
Day one they hiked from the foot of the mountain to base camp @12,000ft. Once they got there the set camp and prepared for the next days hike to the summit and back. Once they woke up the weather took a turn for the worst. This year it seems as though it is still winter out there. From base camp up the mountain was covered in snow.
With the right determination and tools the guys made it to the summit just in time to take a few pictures, sign their names and prep for the way down. The minute they started to descend the clouds rolled in and the thunder started.
By the time they made it back to base camp the rain and hail were coming down. My dad said it took them about an hour to finally warm up in their sleeping bags. All day Wednesday while I was working I would check my phone or call my dad to see if by chance their phones were working. I started to get a bit worried by later afternoon but sure enough I got the call that said they were safe and made it to the top.

Tonight my father came home and I made a him a home cooked meal and had a card waiting for him with a glass of Barghi wine. We made a toast and chatted about his trip. I realize more and more that my father is one of the most, if not the most amazing person I know. I don't say this because he is my dad but at the age of 67 he as run 30 marathons, hiked Mount Whiney @14505 ft, biked around Lake Tahoe twice and well the list could go on. He is a man of his word.
Growing up I can remember him teaching me that when you set a goal you have to stick with it. There is no such thing as impossible or that you can't, rather once you set your mind the rest is easy. He always says more than 50% of anything is all in your mind. I can say that we were raised this way and learned this, for this I am so thankful. I see myself and know that the impossible can be reached.
I am so proud of my father!

Sometimes I just can't believe it

You know what I can't believe sometimes, I can't believe how time has passed. I can't believe that two of my best friends are married, my bother is about to be a father and my cousin is having her second child. I mean I know it's all happening and I am so excited but sometimes I just stop and think, "wow times have changed".

I can't believe my brother is going to be a father. I know he will be a great one, but things will change so much in a matter of 3 months. I am so excited to be an aunt and never thought it would be this soon. It's funny, I always told my cousin that I can't imagine her with kids and know that she is having her second I can't imagine her without kids. I know I will feel the same once my niece is born but for now, I just can't believe that my brother is going to have a little girl.

I also am amazing that in 2 months it will be one year ago that I was leaving for my big journey around the world. I find myself constantly thinking about this time last year. I was so excited; buying all my tickets and figuring out where to go and what to pack. I was extremely excited to quit my job and get out of town. I don't wish it was last year again only because I am big on living in the moment and I am very content with where my life is now. However, I guess I just wish I could do it all again this year! I had the time of my life and I just wish I could do it all over. Hopefully this year I will have different types of trips to look forward to!

I think I can, I think I can

Okay the fact is that apparently when life gets stressful and I have a lot on my mind I not only go in my hole, but I stop writing as well. Which is probably not the smartest things seeing that writing has been my therapy so many times.

I can't help it, I just get so busy with thinking that I have no patience to sit down and write how I feel and what I think. Anyway I am pushing myself now just so I don't lose the want to write. So life has been busy and a bit stressful. I think this is one of the toughest times in my life as far as what I am doing personally and my financial constraints. I just keep looking at the long run and what I think, hope, will be a success story.

I have never wanted something so bad. All that my dad and I are doing now I hope will pay off. The hard part is waiting, wanting to do more than I can at this time and really just the unknown of whether this will work. My fear is that 6 months from now we look back and see that we really had no chance. I hope what I think and the potential I feel for this company is not just a dream taking over my logic. I hope I am being smart and making the right decisions. I just pray that this will work. I have to say this is one of the most stressed times in my life. Not at all about anything traumatic but simply about the direction of where my life is going.

I find myself so impatient these days, not willing to talk to much, constantly thinking about everything, even though there is only so much I can do. I lay in bed at night and think about all that needs to be done and see such a long road ahead. I guess this is why some people make it and others don't. It is a test of strength and patience. I am sure most people would maybe give up at my point. I mean I can go out and get a job right now and start making an income instead of being broke and stressed about life. But again if we can get through this part, this one part that really isn't such a long time but just feels it, then the road is easy from here.

Success comes with great risk, I truly believe this. I know I can make this work.

Time Flies

Life has been quite busy the past few weeks. Since I have return to my old job on a as need by basis I haven't really had to much free time. My best friends wedding was last weekend and I have to say, it was amazing! I knew it would be great but I really truly enjoyed it and thought that her and her new hubby did an amazing job with everything. It was a nice get a away and Sarasota is beautiful. All the girls had withdrawals when we returned to Atl :(

Since I have been back I have just been playing catch up. Even though I am working from home right now, my dad and I do a lot on a daily basis so I had to spend some time getting updated on what was going on. I don't know how much I am looking forward to June because I will be working both jobs about full time....so let's say my weeks will be about 60 hours long just working! I just keep telling myself to look at the final picture and it will all be worth it.

With our new company, this is the critical time, right now we are picking product names and packaging. Once we do this we get a design for our logo and then we can finally start production! I am just trying to wrap all this up in the next 3 weeks and get things on paper and then I think I will be able to relax...I think!

Wasn't I just here?

Today was my first day back at my old job. It's weird to be back, although I am there on a contract basis, so as needed for either party. It worked out for both of us, they needed someone but were in the position to hire full time and I was looking for a job that required minimal hours so I can continue working on my own project with my dad.

As I went up the escalator and walked to get my morning coffee, it felt like I never left, like I was just there the day before. I made me really sad. It made me sad that the past 9 months felt like a day. My greatest fear after my trip was that I would soon forget all those moments that I wanted to last forever. And now I feel it happening, I feel like I am letting go, like it was so brief or a distant dream. Being back made me realize how short it all was.

As sad as I was to feel this way, I was happy to see everyone, to do something I am good at and like and really to just make some money! It was just the strangest feeling, so weird to be back and feel like I was gone, but not at the same time. I never thought I would go back, I had made it so final in my mind but the fact is that there were times I missed it, missed the people and the fun times we had!

My crazy weekend!

I 've been a bit lazy or busy I should say to write the past few days. Days just fly by and I can't seem to find the time for a lot of things. Everything is going really good these days. My father and I are hard at work trying to get things going and I feel like we are finally getting somewhere. We have a lot to do but at least that is a good thing.

I decided to get a job part-time for a while, I can't stand not having money right now and I think it will be good for me to have a few days that get me out of the house. It is great working from home but at the same time it takes a toll, I just like to get out and get dressed everyday. Anyway I am returning to my old company, which I am actually excited about. I will be hired as a temp worker so the pressure of goals and such are not there. At the same time I get to see all my old friends and it is something that I am good at and already know. Hopefully I will be working as early as the beginning of May!

I also start my volunteer job next Thurs which I am super excited about. Sadly my best friends boss who was fighting Leukemia for years passed away. It was so sad because he really fought for his life and he left behind a wife and young son. My prayers are with his family.

Other news in my life, my weekend was great fun. I went out with friends on Friday night and sat. night I was with my sister in-law for her birthday. Sunday my mom and I threw a bridal party for my godmothers granddaughter. That was so good and nice to see everyone. And to top off my already crazy weekend, Sunday night I went to my old coworkers house for her son's 1st b'day. This was so great and I got to catch up with everyone!
